A fierce wind blows across Dune 45 in Sossusvlei (dead-end marsh) in the Namib desert. The dune is over 500 feet in height and the blowing wind carries with it the dust and sand from the sunlit edge to the area in shadow, creating a plume of sand known as a 'sand lip'.
